In Memory of Lloyd Christopher Skeen
A registered Canadian charity funding scholarships for deserving students across Ontario, inspiring youth through aviation, and keeping Lloyd Christopher Skeen's dream alive.
Lloyd Skeen was born in London, England in 1971, and from his very first flight at age 4, aviation became his calling. He pursued that dream relentlessly — through Air Cadets, Georgian College, and finally Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, where he earned his Commercial Pilot License.
"In one of his shows, he expressed his desire to create scholarships for others to reduce some of the financial challenges brought on by post-secondary education."
— From Lloyd's story at WERU Campus Radio, Embry-RiddleTragically, Lloyd passed away in February 2003 at age 32, just days after his birthday. His friends and family refused to let that dream die. The Dream Never Dies Foundation was born — and since 2003, it has awarded over 200 scholarships to students across Ontario and beyond.
The Dream Never Dies Foundation in Memory of Lloyd Christopher Skeen is dedicated to fulfilling his dream of increasing financial support for deserving students, particularly in the field of aviation. By awarding scholarships to post-secondary students, the Foundation aims to create opportunities for dreamers in pursuit of their passion.
Before Lloyd passed on, he spoke of his dream to create a scholarship that would assist students who possessed neither the natural academic brilliance nor the financial support that usually carries one through to graduation. He wanted to help students who, like himself, pushed through every challenge through determination and faith.

It is our dream that the benefits to young people will assist them to excel. There is a lot to be done, the work never ends, and we need your support. Our Foundation needs families and friends to continue the work so the Dream will Never Die.
The Foundation awards scholarships across four categories — aviation, legacy, specialized, and open — honouring Lloyd's memory and the memories of others who left too soon. We believe financial barriers should never stand between a determined student and their future.
Everything we do — every scholarship awarded, every camp seat filled, every Gala hosted — depends on the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and community partners. Your support creates opportunities for students who need it most.
Whether you're applying for a scholarship, buying a Gala ticket, or signing up for Aviation Camp — your next step starts here.

The real measure of our work is the lives we touch. Here are the words of some of the students whose dreams we have had the honour of supporting.
I would like to thank The Dream Never Dies Foundation for awarding me this exclusively precious award. I am much honoured. While I was attending high school in Victoria B.C., I was never an academic student. I focused mainly on my social life rather than doing my daily homework, up until I saw an authentic cockpit and instantaneously decided that this is what I must to do for the rest of my life. Since then, I have shifted my focus to where it should have been and studied hard to be accepted to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. This award by The Dream Never Dies Foundation gave me hope and strength to get my thoughts straight and keep pursuing my goal. The value of this award is priceless to me. No matter how much I get help financially, this award helped me not to ditch my dream at the right time. I appreciate this award very much.
Being the recipient of the Lloyd Christopher Skeen Memorial Scholarship has helped me alleviate some of the financial burdens that I have been faced with and continue to face as I pursue my post-secondary goals. With the help of The Dream Never Dies Foundation, I have been able to continue to pursue a dream that both Lloyd and I shared; to one day become a pilot.
I wanted to let you know that I recently completed my instructor rating and I have been hired as an instructor for Toronto Airways Flight Training. I wanted to thank you again for making the scholarship available to me because without it I may not have been able to finish my training and I surely wouldn't have the opportunity to begin my career as a pilot doing what I love to do. Thank you!
I just wanted to extend my thanks to you and your foundation for the generous aid that has been given to me. This scholarship is already helping me to further my education and achieve the dreams I have set out for myself. Again I am very thankful and I wish you the best moving forward. I hope that we will be able to cross paths again in the near future.
The Dream Never Dies Foundation has been very supportive in my journey. I am a former recipient of the Fitzharold Gillespie Memorial Scholarship, and through the Foundation, I have had the opportunity to connect with individuals who have inspired me. I am now pursuing my medical degree at the University of Ottawa. I hope to use my education to advance health equity, improve access to care, and create inclusive environments where everyone feels valued.
I wish to again express a heartfelt thank you to 'The Dream Never Dies Foundation' for having the confidence to select me for the scholarship award. The funds were used to directly pay the flight school and provided significant relief in managing my finances to complete the remaining phases of the training program.
The Dream Never Dies Foundation is grateful to the organizations whose generosity makes our scholarships, Gala, and aviation camp possible.
